In the Hand of Dante opened in select theaters on Jun 12, then went to Netflix. Box Office Mojo shows no US gross for it. The question is whether that kind of release counts as an appearance under the actor rules, and the league has never had to answer it. Joe's stake: John Malkovich is on Joe's roster and a yes would score him 4 points, so Joe isn't ruling on this. It goes to the six, and until they decide it scores nothing. That's the cautious answer, and it's also the one that doesn't help the person raising it.

Chapter 51 premiered at Lincoln Square in Manhattan on Apr 14, 2025 (Wikipedia, on the Tyler Shields page), then had a limited US theatrical release on Jun 23, 2026, the same day it came out on digital. Under the Artificial ruling, a premiere screening counts as a US theatrical screening. By that standard its first US play was Apr 14, 2025, a year before the Apr 14, 2026 draft cutoff, which would put it outside this season. That cuts against Joe's own stake: Colman Domingo is on Joe's roster and a yes would score him 4 points, so Joe isn't ruling on this. It's the league's call, and it scores nothing until the six decide.

RT scores keep moving for months as late reviews come in, and the scoring tiers sit on exact numbers, so a score can gain or lose points long after a film leaves theaters. Two examples from the week of Sep 22: Resident Evil read 95% on 229 reviews when the commissioner checked and 95% on 236 when the refresh ran, so the score held but the review count didn't. And Spider-Man: Brand New Day sat at exactly 90% on 434 reviews, one review from dropping a tier and losing 10 points. The league has no rule for when a score is final. Options worth talking about: lock on a fixed date, lock a set number of days after release, lock at the end of the season, or never lock and accept that scores move. It's a scoring rule, so it's the league's decision, not something a refresh settles.

Netflix confirmed on Aug 19 that Saturn Return moves to 2027 with no US theatrical release, so it can't score this season. On Aug 29 Patrick took Wildwood as his replacement pick under the delayed-film rule, which doesn't use up his add/drop. Saturn Return is off his roster.

A limited, Oscar-qualifying theatrical run counts as a 2026 release. The test is whether the film played in US theaters at all: there's no minimum number of screens and no minimum run. The same test covers The Adventures of Cliff Booth, which plays IMAX only before streaming. Joe had a stake in that one and said so before the league voted. Decided Aug 29. On Sep 8 we learned its world premiere would be at the New York Film Festival. It premiered there on Oct 5 (Wikipedia), a US theatrical screening, so Artificial scores in 2026. Doug keeps the film and no replacement pick is owed.

If your film gets pushed out of the season, you get a replacement pick and you keep your one add/drop. The replacement isn't the move, it just makes you whole. This covers a film that slips to 2027 and a film that never gets a US theatrical date at all. As of Oct 5, these teams still have their add/drop: Jack, Joe and Patrick. Joe votes last on anything that touches his own roster, and this one does.

Top billing is whoever is listed first in the billing block, however much of the film they're actually in. Screen time doesn't count. This is the standard used all season, and it isn't changing mid-season. Ruled Aug 24, ahead of Verity opening Oct 2.

Replacement picks for films pushed out of the season stay separate and uncapped. Still open for 2027: whether that one move is a single move total or one film plus one actor.

As of Oct 5, the +5 for top billing in a #1 opener has paid out four times this season, which is thin for a rule that causes this much argument. Up for a vote in the offseason: keep it, change what triggers it, or drop it. The credit-order standard stands for 2026 either way.

Does an actor's Oscar nomination also pay their film the +3 for any other nomination? Today it pays the actor and not the film.

Which of the Golden Globes' four Best Picture categories pay: Drama, Musical or Comedy, Animated, Non-English Language? Today none does, until the league picks.
