Season = movies with a 2026 US theatrical release ON OR AFTER the April 14 draft cutoff. No retroactive points for anything already in theaters at draft time. Applies to both drafted movies and to actor appearances. Actors score from their own credited appearances in any eligible movie, regardless of who drafted it.
Did it play in US theaters? That's the whole test. A limited, Oscar-qualifying run counts, an IMAX-only run counts, and neither the number of screens nor the length of the run can rule a release out: the league decided there's no minimum for either. A film with no US theatrical release of any kind doesn't score this season (see Saturn Return). Written down here so the next close call is settled by a written standard instead of turning into another five-week ruling. A release has to clear the Apr 14 draft cutoff as well as meet this standard.

Netflix confirmed on Aug 19 that Saturn Return moves to 2027 with no US theatrical release, so it can't score this season. On Aug 29 Patrick took Wildwood as his replacement pick under the delayed-film rule, which doesn't use up his add/drop. Saturn Return is off his roster.

A limited, Oscar-qualifying theatrical run counts as a 2026 release. The test is whether the film played in US theaters at all: there's no minimum number of screens and no minimum run. The same test covers The Adventures of Cliff Booth, which plays IMAX only before streaming. Joe had a stake in that one and said so before the league voted. Decided Aug 29. On Sep 8 we learned its world premiere would be at the New York Film Festival. It premiered there on Oct 5 (Wikipedia), a US theatrical screening, so Artificial scores in 2026. Doug keeps the film and no replacement pick is owed.

If your film gets pushed out of the season, you get a replacement pick and you keep your one add/drop. The replacement isn't the move, it just makes you whole. This covers a film that slips to 2027 and a film that never gets a US theatrical date at all. As of Oct 5, these teams still have their add/drop: Jack, Joe and Patrick.
